Quickstart — Your First 10 Minutes
The fastest happy path through KeyOne: sign in, triage one decision, resolve it, and ask a question. About 10 minutes.
This is the express tour. If you want the unhurried version, start with Getting Started instead — but if you’d rather learn by doing, follow these eight steps in order.
1. Sign in
Open KeyOne and sign in with your work email and password — or with Continue with single sign-on, if your deployment has an identity provider configured. There is no self-serve sign-up: your KeyOne administrator creates your account and you receive an invitation by email. (Full details: Getting Started.)
2. Get oriented
Glance at the three areas you’ll use constantly:
- The sidebar on the left — your navigation. Home sits at the top, then Work (Decisions, Campaigns), Commercial (Command Centre, Margin, Price & Promo, Projections), Supply & Operations (Availability, Distribution, Replenishment), Field (Field Execution, Perfect Store, Field Team, KeyLink), and More.
- The topbar — search, the notification bell, the KeyChat toggle, and your account menu.
- The command palette — press ⌘K (or Ctrl+K) to jump anywhere.
3. Open Decisions
In the sidebar, under Work, click Decisions. This is your inbox — every open decision KeyOne has surfaced, ranked by the value at stake.
4. Triage with the filters
Use the filter row at the top — hub, region, channel, definition, severity — to narrow the list; pick critical or high under severity to see only the most urgent. Within any view the cards are ranked by their number, highest first, so the biggest item is already at the top.
Tip: The bar under the filters shows how the open cards split by severity, and the count beside it says how many are on this page.
5. Open a decision
Click the top item to open its detail page. Read the three things that matter:
- The value — in the unit the rule measures: money (“R 841,139”), days, checks, units or a proportion. Only money is called value at risk.
- First seen / last seen — when the data first raised this, and the most recent run that still returned it.
- The evidence — Show the data behind this card opens the rows and the query the figure came from, filtered to this card.
(How to read the number properly: Understanding a Decision’s Value.)
6. Act on it
The actions on a decision are Record a decision (act, defer, or dismiss — with your reason), Assign and Snooze. There is deliberately no “resolve” button: a decision closes when the DATA says the problem is gone, not when someone marks it done. Dismissing records that you looked and judged it not worth acting on, which is a different statement and is stored as one.
Why it matters: this is the difference between a system that tracks work and one that tracks outcomes. See Capabilities for the full reasoning.
7. Look at a hub
Open a hub from the Commercial or Supply & Operations group — say Availability, which covers on-shelf availability and out-of-stock risk. Scan the KPI strip, read the panels, then check the decisions listed on the hub, which link straight back to the individual cards. (Full walkthrough: Using a Hub.)
8. Ask KeyChat a question
Open KeyChat from the topbar chat toggle (or ⌘K) — it opens as a rail beside whatever you are looking at, not a separate page — and type a plain-language question, for example:
“What are the top risks this week?”
Read the answer and check its citation chips — every figure is traceable to its source. (More: KeyChat.)
That’s the loop
You’ve just walked KeyOne’s core flow end to end: a decision was surfaced → you triaged it → you acted → the outcome is now tracked. Everything else in these guides is depth on top of this loop.
